SoCo Adapts - FREE home hardening & defensible space assessment!!

Logo of "SoCo Adapts" with the tagline "Our Community Our Responsibility" and a rightward arrow.

As this year’s fire season is ramping up, we urge residents to take advantage of free home hardening and defensible space assessments through the Wildfire Adapted Sonoma County project (SoCo Adapts). Defensible Space Assessments will help you understand how to reduce vegetation risks. A Home Hardening Assessment will show you how you can reduce wildfire vulnerabilities to the home itself. During an assessment, our expert staff identify wildfire vulnerabilities and recommend actions residents can take to harden the home or improve defensible space.  These free SoCo Adapts assessments are to help residents understand how to make our homes and communities more resilient to wildfire and are not for code compliance.

Only 200 free Home Assessments remain, so sign up now at SoCoAdapts.com

In 2026, property owners may be eligible for a rebate of approximately $10,000 per parcel to accomplish priority wildfire resilience actions. All property owners in the project area will be eligible to apply for a rebate for Defensible Space. If you sign up for one of our comprehensive Home Hardening Assessments, you could apply the rebate for home hardening projects.

Already had an assessment? The Rebate Interest Survey is on the SoCo Adapts website!

This will help Sonoma County unlock additional funds to implement community-wide wildfire resiliency measures and give you priority when reviewing rebate applications when available in 2026. Please sign in to complete this quick survey as soon as possible.
